Examples of our commitment to socio-economic development

    1. Garden of Remembrance, Helderberg Hospice, Somerset West

    In collaboration with Tyris Construction, Amandla Construction transformed a portion of the Helderberg Hospice into the Garden of Remembrance. The garden was established as a safe and tranquil place for the members of the Helderberg community to visit and spend time remembering and paying tribute to loved ones who have passed on.

    2. Attie van Wyk Playground, Durbanville

    The Attie van Wyk school in Durbanville, Cape Town, enrols approximately three hundred students from surrounding farm areas. Many of the children come from disadvantaged homes. Amandla Construction had the opportunity to enrich the school’s facilities by constructing an asphalt recreational surface. We believe that sport is important for the well-being of today’s learners – tomorrow’s leaders.

    3. Eyethu Skate Park, Hout Bay

    While contributing our skills and resources to the Skate Park is an example of our commitment to the Socio-Economic Development, it serves a far greater purpose of improving the lives of local children. The numerous benefits to outdoor play include the development of important social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. Eyethu Skate Park was constructed to accommodate all skaters in Hout Bay, but particularly underprivileged children who were in danger while expressing themselves and having fun on makeshift skateboards on the roads of the village.     4. St Vincent R.C. Primary School, Koelenhof

    Having access to sanitation is a basic human right, therefore we chose to make a significant contribution towards the new ablution block, to ensure that learners have access to clean and safe facilities while at school.

    5. Khayelitsha Hospital

    Khayelitsha Hospital operates in an area that is densely populated leading to a high flow of patients though their doors daily. This has resulted in the hospital not having sufficient medical equipment to meet the needs of the community. To help address this, Amandla Construction has donated funds toward the procurement of much-needed equipment for the Emergency Centre. The new equipment will allow doctors to diagnose patients far more accurately in a fraction of the time.
