Scope of works : The specific objective of this project was to construct four (4) Groyne structures in the Swart River using labour intensive methods in accordance with the EPWP guidelines. The following elements of work were used as construction using labour intensive methods:

• Excavation of trenches for gabions
• Construction of gabion boxes
• Construction of gabion mattresses
• Backfill gabions to existing ground level
• Construction of concrete abrasion resistant coating for gabions
• Rehabilitation of surrounding levels & shaping using surplus excavated material
