Scope of works : The upgrading of the Kruskal Ave Spine will be completed in 2 separate phases. Included in the Phase 1 upgrade will be the Durban & Voortrekker road intersection which includes a traffic signal upgrade and the extension of the centre islands to allow for safer pedestrian crossing. The Kruskal Ave Spine will be merged into one surface, altering the road alignment to eliminate the use of any kerbs. The new surface will be sloped to drain into existing stormwater infrastructure with the minor addition of stormwater pipes to convey overload flow into the existing stormwater system.

The realigned Spine will be paved with the addition of various hard & soft landscaping features.
